Who is legally required to produce Annex IV documentation?

Providers of high-risk AI systems must compile and keep Annex IV documentation. Deployers that substantially modify a system, or that put their own brand on it, can be reclassified as providers and inherit the same obligation. Many financial institutions sit in this dual role and underestimate it.

How long does it take to produce a complete Annex IV dossier?

For a single in-scope system with reasonably mature engineering practices, 4-8 weeks. Estates with 10+ high-risk systems typically need a phased programme of one to two quarters to reach full coverage.

How does Annex IV relate to ISO/IEC 42001 and the NIST AI RMF?

Annex IV is a legal evidence requirement under the EU AI Act. ISO/IEC 42001 and the NIST AI RMF are management-system and risk-framework standards that can be used to generate much of the same evidence. We design dossiers so a single set of artefacts satisfies all three.

Do you hand the documentation over, or maintain it?
